I'm a postdoc at Aalto University in Espoo, Finland.  I research applications of number theory and algebra to problems in wireless communications, as a member of Camilla Hollanti's research group.
Shenandoah National Park, Virginia

Research

I'm interested in using algebraic methods to design and analyze space-time codes for MIMO and wiretap channels.  I'm also generally interested in information theoretic security and cryptography, or any other application of algebra to communications.

Here is my CV.

Here is a link to my publications and preprints.

I got my Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Maryland, College Park in the U.S.  My dissertation research generalized classical duality theorems from Galois and étale cohomology.  My thesis advisor was Niranjan Ramachandran.

Teaching

I just finished leading the discussion sections for a Galois Theory course at Aalto, taught by Camilla Hollanti.  In addition, I taught, TA'd, and graded several classes while at the University of Maryland, the complete list of which is on my CV (which will be up here shortly).

Outside the classroom, I've served as a mentor for the Directed Reading Program, was a teaching assistant for SPIRAL, and volunteered with LET'S GO Boys and Girls, a great organization based in Annapolis, MD, dedicated to improving STEM education.  I also gave an expository talk about topology to the Math Honors Society at Winston Churchill Hill School, in Potomac, MD.

Other Stuff

I love running, and spent a lot of time trail running at Rock Creek Park while living near Washington, D.C.  In May I'll be participating in the Helsinki City Run.

Minä yritän oppia suomenkieltä.  Se on vaikea kieli, mutta myös tosi mielenkiintoinen.  Lopulta minä taidan kirjoittaa tämän verkkosivun myös suomeksi.
