See in the directory /p/edu/mat-1.174/source for a sample of matlab files for you. Create the file $HOME/matlab/startup.m and include the line:

path(path,'/p/edu/mat-1.174/source');

to make the functions are available to you. Alternatively, you may type it in the beginning of the session. Note I moved the files to a subdirectory.
