FEM on hierarchical meshes
Several
preconditioners for solving finite element problems (e.g.
multigrid, BPX) are built on the existence of a mesh hierarchy. Such
hierarchical structure can be used also in the assembly of the system
matrix or in constructing an operator acting as the system matrix. In
this talk, we will discuss, how this can be efficiently done. The
presented method solves the Poisson equation with 100*10^6 degrees of
freedom in one standard workstation in less than 2 hours.
